New 4GB MemoryStick Pro DUO launched

Sony has increased the MemoryStick Pro Duo’s maximum capacity from the previous 2GB to a 4GB number. The electronics giant decided to wake up and bundle the new 4GB MemoryStick Pro Duo card with an adapter to enable this card to fit into standard MemoryStick slots. This is bad news for third parties who have been cashing in on Sony’s oversight for quite some time now. The new 4GB card offers a minimum write speed of 15Mbps – that’s pretty slow considering the amount of data that you’re going to transfer. It costs £118 a pop and comes with a 5 year warranty. Shipping begins within the next six weeks.
